Spazio 211 is not just another venue; it has been part of Turin’s cultural fabric for twenty years. It’s not a simple event space, but a microcosm where live music has always been at the forefront, situated in a geographically and socially complex area at risk of gentrification. This rebranding was an act of love. Our goal was to give Spazio 211 back its visceral character, to bring people back to the days of sold-out shows, sticky floors, and that electric, sexy (and sweaty) atmosphere that makes you think, “Remember that incredible show back in 2008?” Reimagining its visual identity wasn’t a mere aesthetic exercise; it was a way to achieve one key goal: to restore Spazio 211’s central role in Turin’s underground scene.
The Approach
We avoided stylistic shortcuts, mainstream design clichés, and pre-packaged templates. After thoroughly analyzing what competitors were doing, we chose to do the exact opposite while maintaining a consistent and authentic identity:
• Direct content: no standardized posts or traditional advertising approaches. Instead, essential communication with the artist’s name, date, and ticket price.
• Genuine interaction: heavy use of local memes in stories to maintain a real connection with the audience, with re-shares and near-instant responses to DMs.
• No paid ads: growth was entirely organic, relying on the strength of the content and word of mouth.
• Return to physical posters: strategic placement at key locations in venue.
The Results (October – December 2024)
In just 60 days, the numbers reflect the audience’s response:
• Accounts reached: from 20,000 to 167,080 (+735%), entirely organic.
• Profile activity:+37.8%compared to the previous period.
• Profile visits:+36.9%.
• External link clicks: +59%.
• Followers: over 1,000 new followers gained compared to September–October.
• Sold-out events: 4 consecutive concerts in the second week of December.
• Top-performing posts: the most viewed post of the past two years, part of the
rebranding, surpassed 10,000 views.
Visual Identity
The visual identity was designed to be immediate and distinctive:
• Typography: Hand-refined Arial Black, conveying a raw and direct character.
• Color palette: Deep black (#101712) and warm beige (#EAE0CA), creating a
minimal yet recognizable aesthetic.
• Photos and videos: Consistent editing and color correction for visual continuity
without the rigidity of corporate aesthetics.
• Simplified design: No elaborate layouts or redundant graphics—every post
celebrates the music and its audience.
Ethics and Style
We consciously avoided invasive approaches:
• Photos respect the audience’s privacy (let people make out in peace...).
• Copy is never sensationalist: just the artist’s name and essential details.
• Every choice was made to honor Spazio 211’s history without compromising its
identity.
Our work drew inspiration from international icons like Paris’s Pigalle Country Club, New York’s CBGB, and London’s Ministry of Sound, while keeping the focus on Spazio 211’s uniqueness. The club’s archive—from old payoffs like “a rock refuge for disaffected
dreamers” to historic socialist posters—served as a guide, helping us avoid the trap of superficial nostalgia.
This project was a return to the essence of Spazio 211: a place where live music isn’t a product but an authentic experience. The results speak for themselves, but it’s the renewed enthusiasm of the audience that proves Spazio 211’s identity is more alive than ever.
